Do you remember your first Kaleidoscope?
Almost everybody owned one at some stage in his or her lives. At least, in my hometown, they were very popular and were a real crowd pleaser, especially for kids.
I remember spending hours staring at the little hole and watching as everything changed inside as you turned it manually.

As you turned the cylinder and looked through the hole of one of the extremes, the crystals moved and rotated. As they reflected on the three mirrors, they formed patterns of many different shapes and colors. I don’t think that you could ever get the same combination again, since the movement of the crystals was totally random.
